Nox Library’s Pressed Coffee conversations have been an integral part of Nox Library’s growth and connection to Detroit’s art community. Kickstarted at the beginning of Summer 2020, Pressed Coffee maintained a consistent newsletter filled with articles, essays, photos, and highlights compiled by Nox Library’s core organizers. Due to Nox’s small labor force and growing concerns around the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pressed Coffee was temporarily shelved in August 2020. The newsletter presented a vital opportunity for consistent engagement between Nox Library and local artists, which the Art Committee hopes to continue to foster with Pressed Coffee conversations.

Every month, Pressed Coffee features an exclusive interview with a local artist based around Nox Library’s foci: labor, class, race, politics, and art. Each installment also features sections dedicated to politics and society, arts and culture, updates to Nox Library activity, along with book reviews or postings of long or short-form literature and art. The Art Committee and Literature Distribution Committee are responsible for curating each month’s newsletter, along with its promotion. All older installments of Pressed Coffee are available in Nox Library’s archive.
